Introduction | IGEE 2009

From September 30th to October 2nd 2009, educationists, members of government and non-governmental organisations and sustainable development practitioners from over 20 countries gathered in Karlsruhe, Germany, for the First International Greening Education Event.

For an unprecedented 3 days, the practitioners enjoyed the exceptional opportunity - fully in line with the European Year of Creativity and Innovation - of getting to know inspiring greening education initiatives in many different countries. But before starting off with this journey, the issues related to climate change and sustainable development policy making challenges were presented.

The event brought together creative, enthusiastic and motivated practitioners from around the world to discuss the challenging and burning issue of greening education. It offered a unique opportunity to meet like minded people, invigorate knowledge-sharing and foster collaborations.
